Crew Meeting Update!

We just got out of our weekly online crew meeting!  We looked at some of the work we’ve done on backgrounds, puppets, and shots and critiqued as we went along.  In the next week we hope to release our next promo, so we went over what it will look like and made a banner to go up on Equestia Daily when it’s released.  We also just got some great new audio from Rinachan and have been working on all the shots with the newly recorded dialogue!

I’m working on a dude’s senior film.

It’s made of ponies.

I’m making the website for the film right now for some reason, so it postponies my production of backgrounds a little bit, but whatevs.

what program do you use to animate?

We are using Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 to create Double Rainboom.  We didn’t have much trouble getting CS5 to do what we needed either, so if CS5 is cheaper, I would go with that (In CS4 and below, it’s a little harder to animate in layers and you can’t use gradients).

On top of manning the website for it, I’m also working on doing some backgrounds for Double Rainboom by Zachary Rich.

Right now I’m working on doing layouts to later be inked and colored in flash. Fun times.

SkipperWing Double Rainboom Animation test (by SkipperWing)

So my good friend, “Flamingo1986,” is doing something amazingly special. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say without breaching NDA (which conveniently keeps me from having to write a whole shpiel about it, eheheheh), but it is very much awesome. In order to do animation for this very awesome project of his, you have to do two animation tests: a smiley demo to prove you understand flash, and a flash puppet demo to prove you can make the puppets do funny things on model. Believe me those are two very different and separate things. Me? I did it because we have a “dialogue-with-a-pre-established-puppet: assignment in my digicel class and “Mr. Flamingo” very graciously donated his. So yeah. This is my test.
