How long will the complete animantion be?
Anonymous

We’re estimating that Double Rainboom will be about an entire episode long when it’s complete (the episode won’t have intro titles though).  It will likely be slightly longer than 22 minutes by the time it’s done.

I noticed that in the puppets, there aren't any any back or back 3Q shots. Aren't gonna have any ponies from the back or back 3Q?

We have shots in Double Rainboom with the back and back 3 quarter views of the ponies, but we didn’t make formal puppets for them.  We handed out those shots with the back and back 3 quarter views to more experienced animators who could manipulate the puppet parts we already had and draw in new ones where needed.

are the Cutie Mark Crusaders going to be in Double Rainboom?

Yes!  We’re working on their shots right now!

Our new puppet tutorial has been featured by Equestria Daily!  Zach Rich (our director & producer) has created a tutorial to show everyone how to animate the puppets that are available for download on our website, www.doublerainboom.com.  The three files you need to follow along are here.

Just a quick question about the puppets. I notice that the other sets of forelegs (T2, T3, and T4), are on separate "guide" layers. Do the guide layers have an actual purpose, like, can their "guide" status be switched on and off during animation? Or are they there as a place you can copy/paste other leg shapes from onto the unguided T1 layer during animation?

Kind of.  If all the different legs are going to be used in a shot then they are taken off ‘guide’ and are given keyframes where they need to appear.  They generally stay on their original layers.  I hope that helps!

Howdy everypony!  We have just released part one of our puppet animation tutorial!  This video goes over how to animate our smiley face demo, how to set up rough key animation, and begin puppet animation.  Enjoy!

Crew Meeting Summary!

Howdy everypony!

At our last crew meeting we went over the promos that will be released in the coming weeks leading into post-production.  We will be releasing a tutorial on how to animate our pony puppets, Zach will be narrating a Double Rainboom update promo to let everyone know how the project is going, and we will be releasing a trailer.  It will take about two or three weeks before the next promo will be released though.

We also met our shot quota this week! (Despite finals at SCAD)  Which means we are on track for finishing Double Rainboom!

Will you be making a Rarity flash puppet?

Yup!  We still plan on making a Rarity puppet but because of the complexity of her hair we haven’t started her yet.
